Daniel Defense ConVert Grip Review

The Daniel Defense ConVert Grip™ was developed by Daniel Defense at the request of the Special Operations community.

The ConVert Grip™ allows users to adjust the mounting location for a pressure pad with a Cable Remote Assembly in one of 16 positions in a 360 degree arc around the grip. When a Cable Remote Assembly is not in use, the grip easily converts from a full length to a “shorty” version.

For those that prefer a larger grip the pressure pad extension can be left on. Due to the Injection Molded Glass-Filled Nylon construction the full length grip weight is only 4.2 ounces. Not noticably different than the “shorty” which weighs 2.7 ounces.

The ConVert Grip mounts to any Picatinny Rail without tools. The only metal parts are the screw and internal clamp used to torque the Grip to the rail. Daniel Defense proved they know field enviroments by incorporating a “C” washer that prevents the torque screw from falling out of the Grip assembly. (see pics)

Materials & Construction

Precision crafted from Injection Molded Nlyon, the Daniel Defense ConVert Grip™ is extremely durable, does not conduct heat, and has a nonreflective finish.

  • Injection Molded Glass-Filled Nylon
  • 4.2 Ounces fully assembled
  • 2.7 Ounces as a Shorty
  • Made in the USA!

The Good:

  • Mounts to any 1913 Picatinny rail system.
  • Allows for 360 degree rotation of tape switch for lights/lasers.
  • Two grips in one (full sized and stubby version).
  • Easy conversion from long grip to stubby grip.

The Bad:

  • Does not fit on non-standard 1913 rail systems (example – Sig 556 molded plastic rails).
  • Requires some pressure to install – very tight fit.
  • Tool-less installation works OK, but other quick detach systems such as those on the Tango Down QD work better.

Bottom line, The Daniel Defense ConVert Grip™ is a well designed product made in the USA- for the field. It’s durable, light, does not conduct heat, and has a nonreflective finish. Prices range from $69 to $89 on the Internet.
