Gen4 Firearms Coating

Gen4 is latest evolution of thermoset polymer ceramic coating technology, and is now standard on all Ed Brown coated guns. It replaces the popular Gen III coating we have used since 2006.

We have been allowed the unique opportunity to work with the manufacturers of this coating to address our specific needs. These needs included an attractive appearance and better wear properties than existing polymers, but without any loss of the exceptional corrosion protection these coatings offer.

Gen4 is made up of a special formulation that offers the best wear resistance and corrosion protection known to date. Wear is significantly improved over traditional oxide bluing, and is significantly better than older chemistry polymers, including Gen III. Wear is still possible however, and no coating in existence will prevent wear entirely.

The appearance of Gen4 is similar to that of finely finished bead blast bluing, and although it is military quality, you will not have to live with a military appearance. Gen4 is available in black, specially formulated to look identical in color to traditional matte finished bluing. Gen4 is also available in Stealth Grey and Battle Bronze.

Gen4 is available on any Ed Brown handgun already purchased and in service. Download the installation order form for details on sending in an Ed Brown firearm for Gen4 coating.

Cabot Guns Folded Steel Damascus 1911

From press release:

Don’t Miss Our Folded Steel Damascus 1911

 A True Damascus 1911
Cabot Guns To Display a Folded Steel Damascus Pistol. Here’s another first from Cabot Guns, a true folded steel Damascus 1911 on display at SHOT 2014, Booth 508.

To our knowledge the Cabot Damascus 1911 is the first traditional folded steel Damascus pistol ever produced. Other pistols described as Damascus are formed from powdered Damascus, not the real thing.

Born from a 50 layer block of American artisan made stainless steel by master Damascus craftsman Chad Nichols, the Cabot Damascus 1911 represents a new achievement. Extraordinary to machine and grind this may be the one and only pistol to ever be produced from true traditional folded Damascus steel.

A sign of wealth since biblical times, Damascus steel was used to create the weapons of Kings and Chieftains. Valued for it’s beauty and strength, Damascus steel was not only an indication of power by it’s holder but was also considered to contain mythical properties. It is with this inspiration we have crafted this 1911.

The grips for this pistol are also a work of art. Commissioned from sculptor and artist Brian Challis, the grips on the Cabot Damascus 1911 are created from an ancient tooth of the wooly mammoth. Other refined details include the Cabot Tri-Star trigger with a rounded front pad knurled on a rounded and radius pattern, yet another engineering feat.
See you at SHOT! – Cabot Guns – Booth 508

Cabot Guns’ 1911 pistols represent a new standard in the firearms industry. They are the implementation of prideful engineering and precision manufacturing in all that we create; 100% American product; from the American born solid blocks billet steel which forms the backbone of all Cabot Guns, to the workers plying their precision trade in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania.
