Cabot Guns Folded Steel Damascus 1911

From press release:

Don’t Miss Our Folded Steel Damascus 1911

 A True Damascus 1911
Cabot Guns To Display a Folded Steel Damascus Pistol. Here’s another first from Cabot Guns, a true folded steel Damascus 1911 on display at SHOT 2014, Booth 508.

To our knowledge the Cabot Damascus 1911 is the first traditional folded steel Damascus pistol ever produced. Other pistols described as Damascus are formed from powdered Damascus, not the real thing.

Born from a 50 layer block of American artisan made stainless steel by master Damascus craftsman Chad Nichols, the Cabot Damascus 1911 represents a new achievement. Extraordinary to machine and grind this may be the one and only pistol to ever be produced from true traditional folded Damascus steel.

A sign of wealth since biblical times, Damascus steel was used to create the weapons of Kings and Chieftains. Valued for it’s beauty and strength, Damascus steel was not only an indication of power by it’s holder but was also considered to contain mythical properties. It is with this inspiration we have crafted this 1911.

The grips for this pistol are also a work of art. Commissioned from sculptor and artist Brian Challis, the grips on the Cabot Damascus 1911 are created from an ancient tooth of the wooly mammoth. Other refined details include the Cabot Tri-Star trigger with a rounded front pad knurled on a rounded and radius pattern, yet another engineering feat.
See you at SHOT! – Cabot Guns – Booth 508

Cabot Guns’ 1911 pistols represent a new standard in the firearms industry. They are the implementation of prideful engineering and precision manufacturing in all that we create; 100% American product; from the American born solid blocks billet steel which forms the backbone of all Cabot Guns, to the workers plying their precision trade in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania.

Smith & Wesson Updates BodyGuard 380 for 2014

Smith & Wesson has announced some changes to the BodyGuard 380 for 2014. Some of the main changes are: integration into M&P line, upgraded corrosion resistant slide, no integrated laser (good news in this case since the original units had many problems with activation buttons), and 2 included magazines. Hopefully they also made some improvements to the trigger as that was one of the drawbacks of the original version, time will tell on that one.

Classic Custom Enhanced

The new Classic Custom Enhanced Edition is based on our timeless Classic Custom pistol, and includes hand relief engraving by our master engraver, on the slide only. The Classic Custom Enhanced has all the bells and whistles, and includes those extra enhancements that you don’t really need, but really want! The unique slide treatment sets it apart from any other pistol. The sides of the slide are painstaking kept absolutely flat and true with crisp edges, and are then brought to a gorgeous mirror finish by hand, to contrast and enhance the glass bead finished frame. To enhance the beauty and uniqueness of this gun, our master engraver applies an elegant hand relief engraving to the flats of the slide. The top of the slide is flattened and finely grooved to provide a no glare runway effect that naturally guides your eye to the front sight. The rear of the slide is finely serrated 50 lines per inch to match the deep buried adjustable sight and eliminate distracting light reflection. The frame and mainspring housing are elegantly finished with our exclusive Skip-Line checkering. We think you’ll agree the Classic Custom Enhanced represents the ultimate in quality firearm craftsmanship at it’s finest!

Ruger Introduces the SR-762 Piston-Driven Rifle Chambered in .308 Win./7.62 NATO

Ruger Introduces the SR-762 Piston-Driven Rifle Chambered in .308 Win./7.62 NATO
October 17, 2013
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is pleased to announce the new Ruger® SR-762™, bringing the .308 Win./7.62 NATO cartridge to the popular SR-556® family of rifles. The SR-762™ offers the downrange authority of the .308 cartridge in a two-stage, piston-driven rifle that runs cooler and cleaner than traditional gas-driven AR-style rifles.

The SR-762™ is an ideal rifle for those who appreciate the familiar and ergonomic AR-style platform. The .308 Win./7.62 NATO cartridge is perfect for hunting medium and most large-sized game and enhances the capability of the AR-style platform in defensive or tactical roles.

The SR-762™ retains the features of the original SR-556® that make it a solid performer among AR-style rifles. The patent-pending, two-stage piston delivers a smooth power stroke to the one-piece bolt carrier, which reduces felt recoil and improves the rifle’s durability. The four-position gas regulator allows the shooter to tune the rifle to function reliably with a broad variety of ammunition and in varying environmental conditions.

A heavy contour, 16.12″ chrome-lined, cold hammer forged barrel with a 1:10″ twist features exterior fluting to minimize weight, yet provides outstanding accuracy. With the Ruger® Lightweight Adaptable handguard in place, the SR-762™ weighs 8.6 pounds and balances comfortably.

Three 20-round MAGPUL® PMAG® magazines are provided with the SR-762™. Folding backup iron sights, a Hogue® Monogrip®, Picatinny rail sections and rail covers add considerable value to the package, as does the six-position stock, sight adjustment tool, and a soft-sided carry case.

The Ruger® SR-762™ has a suggested retail price of $2,195.
